Here at Five R, we have not forgotten about the trucks with gasoline engines. Quite a few shops do not even bother with gasoline engine performance, and focus on only diesel performance. We know and understand that there are still customers who do not buy diesels for many reasons, the least of, being the extra cost of the motor, maintenance, noise, etc. So we have put together a list of performance goodies for the gas motors also.
We have carefully chosen the products listed below to obtain the best performance and mileage increases from your gas motor.
Check out the products listed below for your gas truck. Most of our prices are so low we do not even advertise them! To request a price quote from Five R use the Contact Form.

The keys to getting horsepower and torque out of a gas motor are to get the air and fuel into the motor, and get the exhaust out as efficiently as possible. What a supercharger does is to force more of the air fuel mixture into the cylinders to increase the horsepower and torque. A supercharger is driven off the front of the motor, but modern superchargers use very little power to operate.
We carry the full line of superchargers from Whipple and Kenne Bell. Both of these companies use the twin screw design in their superchargers which equates to higher efficiency and less heat build up verses a centrifugal supercharger. Installing a Whipple or Kenne Bell supercharger on your truck will increase horsepower and torque 40% to 50% along with little or no reduction in gas mileage! The twin screw supercharger design gives you power increases down low where you need it, from almost off idle to 4000 rpm's. The equates to increased towing power especially on those big hills. Almost every gas motor for Dodge, Ford and GM has a supercharger kit available. E-mail or call us for details. Back To Top |

Like we said earlier, the keys to gas performance are get the air in, and get the exhaust out. With Advanced Flow Engineering's line of replacement filters and complete air intakes, you can get up to 300% more air into your motor while still using state of the art filtering. These filters are also lifetime filters. You clean the filter, let it dry, re-oil the filter and re-install it. These filters will not need cleaning for at least 20,000 miles! Almost every motor has a filter and or air intake available, call Five- R or e-mail for pricing. Back To Top |

With an increase of air into the motor, getting the air and fuel to mix properly is very important. This is where the Helix Throttle Body spacer from Street and Performance Electronics comes in. This spacer is machined out of aluminum with a helix pattern built into the center to swirl the air creating a vortex and increasing the airflow into the motor. When this happens, then the air and fuel mix together more efficently, which creates additional horsepower and torque, and also increased mileage (usually 1-3 miles per gallon). There is a Helix made for almost every gasoline motor in production, call Five- R or e-mail for pricing. Back To Top |

With the increase in computer controls in vehicles, using a hand held programmer to increase horsepower and torque has never been easier. You can usually adjust for tire size, gear ratio changes, and shift points also. Superchips has a tuner for all the popular late model trucks, and usually get 15-20 horsepower from just the tuner. Call or e-mail us with your application and we'll get you a price quote. Back To Top |

Remember, the second part of the key to increasing power in your gas motor? Getting the exhaust out!
Factory exhaust systems are designed to be quiet, not performance. One of the best modifications you can do to your truck is to do a free flow exhaust, either a full exhaust, or a cat back if your truck has a catalyctic convertor. Either way, you will have increases in throttle responsiveness, power and mileage. Call or e-mail us with your application and we'll get you a price quote. Back To Top |

Gauges are critically important especially when you are modifying your truck. These gauges include boost/vacum, exhaust gas temperature, transmission temperature, fuel pressure, and air fuel ratio.
The boost gauge can tell you when your are having a air inflow problem from the supercharger, or vacum leak issues. Exhaust gas temperature (EGT) monitoring is critical to the lifespan of your motor. High EGT's with a supercharger indicate a lean condition and could do serious damage to the motor. Transmission temperature monitoring is critical to the lifespan of your truck's transmission. Heat is a leading killer of your transmission. When the fluid is out of safe operating temperature range, torque convertors get ruined, clutches burn up, other parts can warp and ruin your transmission. Fuel pressure is also very important to monitor with supercharged applications. A loss in fuel pressure could easily create a lean condition which can seriously damage the motor. An air fuel ratio gauge will also help monitor the motor by looking at the air to fuel ratio in the motor. Whether it is lean, rich, or good condition. Having the gauges mounted where you can easily see them is critical. That is why we mount most guages on the A-pillar (the winshield pillar). You can glance over and see the gauges easily without taking your eyes off the road. We only use Autometer 2 1/16" 270 degree sweep electric gauges and pods for all our truck applications. You can choose from any of the different Autometer gauge styles including Sport Comp, Ultralite, Lunar, Phantom, C2, Cobalt, and many others. Back To Top |
